PCI MODERNIZES ITS MAIN PLANT WITH SEVERAL UPGRADES

Re-organizes 30,000 Square-Foot Manufacturing Space For Better Flow, Adds New Offices, And Upgrades Existing Office Space

Hanover, PA – November 2011 – Precision Cut Industries (“PCI”) rearranged its manufacturing space, which included some minor construction work to open up the shop’s production flow. A majority of the construction work was performed on adding new modular offices in the shop for Production Control, Engineering, and Quality. The existing front offices were also upgraded and modernized.

The company now has one-direction flow in the shop, from receipt of raw material to shipping to its customers. The reorganization effort was a large under-taking, which required moving capital equipment, knocking down walls, and re-locating racks of raw material and finished goods.

In terms of modernizing with plant upgrades and improving the flow, Justin Kline, PCI’s Manufacturing Engineer, felt it was the right thing to do. “We needed to move forward on this initiative to continue supporting our growth within the same manufacturing footprint.” PCI manufactures various components of all sizes and applications. 95% of these components begin in the laser service center, with many requiring additional fabrication of all varieties (such as bending, machining, welding, edge conditioning, rolling, etc).

The new and upgraded office spaces provide a professional, yet comfortable feel for its guests and employees. PCI had plans to add and upgrade the building in 2008 but decided against it with the recession looming. As market levels have slowly returned, PCI moved forward on its decision to improve the look and feel of the offices.
