ISO 9001 and ISO 9000
ISO9001
ISO9001 is the actual document that shows our standards that we are in compliance with the quality standards. It focuses on all of our manufacturing requirements as far as getting good quality product out to our customer. The difference between ISO9000 and 9001 is 9000 is the actual standard that we have to abide by for quality standards, 9001 however is the actual certification document that says we are certified under those standards.
Processes
We had to decipher what it means to get our product from point A to point B and out the door to our customer on time and good quality and we had to define what processes it took or takes to make that happen, there for we then put them into a certain book, follow them and then put it down to our customers so that they know what we are doing. The auditing process for 9001, we are audited once a year by a 3rd party that comes in and takes care of the audit, basically it is a 3 day process and during that process we go through all the different processes with the company.
It’s pretty simple, you need to do what you say and say what you do, that is pretty much it in a nut shell. But we go through every process, if there is a finding, maybe some suggestions they want to give because you also have to make improvements upon your processes as well so it is not just following them but it is improving upon what you already have in place.
The process has been beneficial for PCI and the reasons are, not only is it good to show our customers that we can produce good quality product but it also gives us some standardization within our company to be able to process the product on time and with good quality.
